Arc'teryx on USFans Spreadsheet

A technical outerwear grid on the USFans Spreadsheet: the SV jacket including the Beams version, a down jacket, Gamma LT and LEAF pants, Palisade shorts, a backpack, a shoulder bag and two beanies.

The two-letter codes, decoded

The page holds the SV jacket and the SV Beams version, a plain jacket, a down jacket, the Gamma LT pants, LEAF pants, Palisade shorts in black, a backpack, a shoulder bag and two beanies. A narrow grid, weighted towards the pieces the brand is actually known for.

Those two-letter suffixes are a durability scale rather than decoration, and knowing them saves picking the wrong garment. SV is severe weather — the heaviest, most protective build. AR is all-round, LT is lightweight, and SL is superlight. Gamma is the softshell family, so Gamma LT pants are a stretch-woven trouser rather than a waterproof one. LEAF is the military-facing line. Sizing is athletic and close: size up if a hoodie is going underneath, and trust the waist figure on the trousers, which sit nearer the body than a cargo.

One request settles more than any amount of external inspection: ask for a shot of the garment's interior. A waterproof shell has every seam sealed with a narrow strip of tape, and that tape should sit flat and continuous with nothing lifting at the corners. Where it is absent or only partly applied, the garment is a windbreaker regardless of how correct the outside looks. After that, two smaller things. The zips should be the laminated water-resistant kind, with the tooth track sealed rather than open. And the bird logo is a fine embroidery in which the separate bones of the wing should stay legible at real size — it is the detail that muddies first. All USD. More on the USFans Spreadsheet.
